Emily Blincoe
Personal Background:
Emily Blincoe is a 41 year old photographer from Austin, Texas. She has a home in Nashville, but travels a lot with her dog, Eleanor. Growing up, she hated school because she liked a more hands-on learning environment, which explains why she likes photography. Blincoe's interest in photography sparked when she was around 22 years old. Emily's brother introduced her to photography, and it has been her passion ever since. She isn't married and has no kids, so its easier for her to travel around and take photos.

Style:
Emily's photography style is very bright and colorful. She likes to create well organized, aesthetically pleasing images. Blincoe plays around with a lot of different patterns and colors to create interesting photos. However, some of her photos are more muted and have a vintage look to them. Overall, Emily's photography is very fun and interesting to look at.

Philosophy:
Blincoe finds inspiration from colors, faces, little moments, light and beauty in the ordinary. She creates for herself and tries to capture the beauty of life. Emily believes that there is beauty in everything, and that there are many things, other than just what society says is beautiful, that should be photographed. She doesn't try to take the photos that everyone wants to see, she photographs for herself. Blincoe just wants to share the beauty in everything and inspire others to do so too.

Influences:
Emily has influenced me by showing that I can be a photographer one day if I want to. Her photographs are very bright, happy, and nice to look at. She has inspired me to use a style like hers, because I love how her pictures look. Emily uses a lot of everyday, common objects in her photography, and so it motivates me to do that too. She shows me I don't need a breathtaking view or a fancy camera to be able to take good pictures. Blincoe has influenced the way I think about photography and how I will go about taking photos in the future.

Compare and Contrast:
These two images are similar, but I wasn't able to get them exactly the same. Some things like the color of the background, how close up the image is and the colors of the lollipops were hard to get the same. The background was pretty similar to begin with, but when I edited it to make the image brighter, it made the background a different shade of blue. Also, the background I had was just a blue piece of paper, and it was kind of small, so I had to zoom in more to get the paper inside the frame.
I tried to edit my image to look like Blincoe's but I struggled a bit to get the coloring right. Her image was more brown and muted, while mine was brighter. Also, I couldn't find a background that was similar to hers, so I had to use one that was darker. However, aside from that, I was able to arrange the subjects in a similar way.
I think this image turned out the most similar out of the three replications. I used photoshop to blur the background and make it black and white, like Emily's photo. It's definitely not exactly the same, but for the most part, I think I was pretty close.
Personal Artist Statement:
These images were were challenging to recreate. It was hard to try to get all of the little details similar, especially when you may not have the same things that the photographer has. I think my images share about how basic things can be used to compose beautiful photography. All of these photos have things that are easily found anywhere. They aren't anything crazy or miraculous, they're just basic things that anyone can find. This idea shows that anyone can be photographer, despite the resources you have, as long as you're willing to experiment and be creative. I hope my photos can spark inspiration for others, just like Emily's did for me.
